Obituary of Carol A. Fraizer

West Des Moines

Carol Ann Fraizer, 72, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2022 after a week in hospice care where she was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Carol was born on January 22, 1950 in Des Moines to DeWayne and Patricia (O’Brien) Steward and grew up on the south side of Des Moines. She attended Christ the King grade school and Saint Joseph Academy and she graduated in 1968. Carol married her high school sweetheart, Michael G. Fraizer, on June 25, 1969. They started their married life in Ames, where Carol worked while Mike obtained his degree. His accounting job brought them from Des Moines to San Diego and then back to Des Moines where they settled permanently. They were happily married for 32 years before Mike’s untimely passing in 2001. Carol dedicated her life to raising her family. This was her greatest passion and joy. She could be found volunteering on almost any school activity or committee. This carried on to her grandchildren where she rarely missed an activity when her health allowed. She was a selfless caregiver to many. Carol’s first instinct was always to ask others what she could do to help them. She loved her dogs, Shelby and Sammy, and spending time with her family, including summertime at Lake Panorama.

Carol is survived by her son, Michael (Lisa) Fraizer of West Des Moines and daughter, Michelle (Bill) Reagan of Papillion, Nebraska; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Madison Fraizer and McKenzie, Lauren and Taylor Reagan; sister, Sue Harrison; and brother, John Steward. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael G. Fraizer; parents, DeWayne and Patricia Steward, and sister, Mary Logsdon.

Memorial contributions can be directed to AHeinz57 pet rescue shelter or the MercyOne Des Moines Foundation.
